Underwater Inspections
Connors Diving Services has a full range of underwater
inspection and survey equipment for the provision of proficient
and thorough inspections covering a wide range of materials
and environments. We are certified to perform class surveys
for Lloyd’s Register, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Germanisher
Lloyd (GL) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Copies
of these certificates can be made available upon request.
Equipment and expertise in this area include the following:
-
Ultra Sonic Thickness
With the most modern, programmable wall thickness meter
we can determine wall thickness on flat, curved and/or
rear-eroded surfaces for most materials. Employing a pulse-echo
method with transmit time evaluation, we can accurately
determine wall thickness to a 0.1 mm tolerance on surface
or underwater. Early detection of corroded and eroded
materials can aid in failure prevention and minimize potential
costs.
-
Magnetic Particle Inspection
Our trained personnel can assess structural integrity
and weld condition through the use of fluorescent magnetic
ink and accompanying UV lamp instruments to reveal defects
in ferromagnetic surfaces.
-
Potentiometer
Our corrosion control monitor is one of the most accurate
methods of detecting levels of corrosion or stray currents.
Accurate to 1/1000th of a volt, we can determine the exact
potential present to accurately fit catholic protection,
which will maintain an equal balance for the type of immersed
material.
-
Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV)
With three ROV's at your disposal, we offer 1000’
depth accessibility to assists in locating, identifying
and assessing through the eyes of either mounted color
or black and white cameras with pan and tilt and auto
iris features.
-
Closed Circuit Video
By employing our CCTV system, the client is capable of
viewing the inspected area as the inspection is being
performed. Coupled with the underwater communications,
this provides the best possible visual assessment, as
it exists at the time of the survey. With our “pinhole”
cameras and powerful lighting, we are able to see what
the naked eye cannot.
-
Underwater Color Video
With our hand held color video, the customer has the benefit
of diver audio describing position, location and areas
of interest or concern removing question of angles and
related definitions. Still photos can be obtained from
the videos and digitized, allowing the customer to have
a hard copy of any points of interest. All videos may
be accompanied with a written report upon request.
-
Digital Photography
Digital pictures can be taken underwater, allowing the
customer to immediately view the image. These pictures
can be printed, saved or even e-mailed allowing for
much quicker results than previous 35mm. Photos are
taken using a Sony DCS-F707 encased in an amphibico
housing. Pictures can be taken at 5.0-mega-pixel resolution,
allowing for extremely high definition images and the
ability to zoom in on specific areas without sacrificing
quality. Night vision pictures are also an option in
conditions were flash photography is not wanted.
Connors Diving Services is ISO 9001:2000
